My Special Prescription Eyeglasses
"Two may talk together under the same roof for many years, yet never really meet; and two others at first speech are old friends." Mary Catherwood's words occur to me as I am wearing this special pair of prescription eyeglasses. That’s one of the most creative and wonderful birthday presents that I have received in these 20 years.
The very first message from Annie flashed onto my screen was not even a nicely “ hello letter”, neither did we gave each other a formal self-introduction. The one thing I knew about her was that she’s a crazy David Fincher fan as I was, and the next fact was that we had become such good friends. I met her on facebook, and you are not going to believe it: Annie and I both suffered from ugly eyeglasses! I noticed that the first time I saw her profile photo. I couldn’t help but wonder that some in American also wore so old-fashioned eyeglasses?
It takes a long time to grow an old friend, but we share an extraordinarily same taste, which accelerates our mutual understanding and sympathy. I miss the surprise of her new story and the anticipation that can last days or even weeks waiting for a reply. I miss the time when offering creative solutions to each other’s problems, bringing joy to each other in an unexpected way, and exchanging ups and downs of each other’s life. I have told her in the mails that I always had trouble with my eyeglasses because it was so uncomfortable and embarrassing that I even preferred not to see clearly. To my great surprise, just the day before my 20’s birthday, she sent this pretty pair of prescription eyeglasses!
She said that she ordered the fantastic prescription eyeglasses online, and it was very easy and convenient, just check this website: glassespeople.com. She is always the kind of fashion girl who can find wonderful and cheap things on the internet. And she always spares me a big smile on my screen. I admit that I’m not good at social things; however, a friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words. Annie opens a new door for me to be confident and optimistic, and most significantly, to make sincere friendships. I am no longer the stupid girl because I have this beautiful pair beautiful prescription eyeglasses and an amazing friend!
